Kangchenjunga (Mount Kangchenjunga), 3rd tallest mountain of the earth with height of 8,586 m. Mount Kangchenjunga lies eastern Nepal which is the beginning point of Himalayan range in Nepal, 125 km east south of Mount Everest and frontier with India. Kangchenjunga was actually the highest peak in the earth till 1856 AD, when the India survey Team proofed that Mount Everest was much higher. Then Kangchenjunga taken third position to be highest, after Mount Everest and Karakoram. There are different pronunciations of Kangchenjunga likely Kanchenjunga, Kangchen Dzo-nga or Kachendzonga.
Its means five treasures of snow and the local tribes Lhimbu and Lhopo believe that the Gods live their. This lofty peak was virgin till British expedition reached the summit in 1955. Many Climbers made their step on the crest of the Majestic Mount Kangchenjung. There are two trekking routes to south and north base camp of Kanchenjunga. Kangchenjunga base camp trekking begins with cultural day tour in Kathmandu valley. Then an hour Himalayan flights to Bhadrapur expose awesome view of Himalayas. Actual trek begins from Taplejung through paddies farm and greenery. First few days trek route pass through Limbu village just above the Tamor River with crossing suspension bridges to villages namely Thiwa, Chiruwa, Japanatar, Gyabla and Phale. Upper section starts from Ghunsa, Kamboche, Lhonak, Pangpema (north base camp of Kangchenjunga). After reach Pangpema trek back to Ghunsa village then the trail diverse to further up to Sele La Pass or turn back to Suketar. Trek to south base camp from Ghunsa, should trek over the three passes (Selele La, Misisay La & Mirgin La). Trek continuous further up to west face of Kanchenjunga spending nights at Tseram, Ramche, Tortong, after Tortong day hike to Yalung Glacier which is follow all the way down from southwest face of Mount Kanchenjunga.
